The seven sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, Holy Communion, Confession, Marriage, Holy Orders, and the Anointing of the Sick, are the life of the Catholic Church. Each sacrament is an outward sign of an inward grace. When we participate in them worthily, each provides us with grace, which is the life of God in us. "The sacraments give power to live. They are actions of Christ on our souls. They are channels or streams flowing from the open side of Christ through Mary's hands to us." (the New Saint Joseph Baltimore Catechism, 1969-1962 Catholic Book Publishing Co. N.Y. Pg. 143).
