GROUPS AND SOCIETIES
PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL
The Parish Pastoral Council is a consultative body which helps in the pastoral planning of the parish. It prayerfully deliberates on all aspects of the parish life and makes recommendations to the priests. It also coordinates the activities of other groups and societies. It is the organ that keeps the parish community focused on the divine purpose of loving God, loving God’s people, doing God’s will and leading others to God through Christ.
The committee ensures that monies entrusted to the parish are wisely controlled and accounted for. It also recommends various means of fund raising and gets involved in other fund raising activities of the church.
This group meets every Monday to count the Sunday Collections and make sure that proper procedures are followed with the Tamper-Free bags.
This committee makes sure the Church and the Rectory along with other physical materials are properly maintained.
This group organizes the monthly Pasta Dinner and other social events. It also takes care of the kitchen in other fund raising events. It provides the platform for parishioners to interact to build deeper relationships.
This group gives support to bereaved families in the community. Members assist in the funeral celebrations.
This committee coordinates all ministries involved in the liturgical life of the parish and plans all celebrations for the liturgical season and other feasts. It aims at helping parishioners to encounter the divine and worship him in spirit.
ST. VINCENT DE PAUL
This parish charitable society provides emergency help to those in need. It gives out food every Tuesday to people who might be in need and those who are hungry.
LEGION OF MARY
This is a Marian Prayer Group which meets every Tuesday for prayers.
CATHOLIC WOMEN’S LEAGUE
This is a spiritual organization bringing women together to worship God through prayer and service. All women 16 years of age and above are encouraged to join.
There are two main choirs: the Children Choir which sings at the 10:00am Mass and the Adult Choir which also sings at the 11:30 am Mass. The Choirs provide music for our liturgical celebrations. The Children Choir meets Wednesday at 6:00 pm for practice and the Adult Choir meets Wednesday 7:00 pm for practice. The Choirs are always seeking new members to join them to glorify God through singing.
SPIRITUAL BOOK CLUB
The Book Club has been meeting since 2011 in the Meeting Room at 6:30 pm on the last Thursday of each month between September and June. They are informal with everyone having an opportunity to contribute. The group is a diverse mix of people, some familiar with a wide variety of spiritual authors and others quite new to this subject. All enjoy reading and look forward to a lively discussions on the works of a wide variety of inspirational authors such as: Thomas Merton, Richard Rohr, Henri Neumann, Desmond Tutu, C. S. Lewis and Reinhold Niebuhr.
